Small game hunting on plains

La Rabolière is characterized by its relief. Indeed, hills and valleys follow one another, giving us the opportunity to place our gun lines in the hollows of the valleys, while the beaters stalk the peaks or slopes. Our small, light pheasants work wonders, just as they do in England, and our red partridges are as valiant as they are in Spain.

Depending on wind direction, altitude difference and game delivery conditions, we have a choice of 18 battues.

Hunting season

From general opening (3rd Sunday in September) to closing on February 28.

Hunting day schedule

We always meet at 9am for breakfast around the big fireplace. Then everyone gears up for the round-robin, where instructions are given and hunt cards drawn. Accompanying adults are welcome, and all trips are made in a “char à bancs”.

During each stalk, our rabatteurs and their dogs send the game flying towards the line of posted rifles. The aperitif is made with Champagne and preceded by 2 Burgundy crus. A refreshment is served around 6 p.m. during the tableau and the distribution of the bourriches. (Depending on the season)

Details of this hunt:

The line you have to form should comprise 10 to 12 guns.

Positions are drawn by lot. Your dogs are welcome to join in the fun for you and your neighbors, as long as you don’t lose control of them. When you are posted, your dog remains on leash until the reporting phase.
